cinema సరే , బతకడం ఎలా ?

12 ఏళ్ళుగా సినిమాలు, షార్ట్ ఫిలిమ్స్, సీరీసులు తీస్తూనే ఉన్నాం. ఒక్క హిట్టు లేదు ఒక్క పాట కూడా వైరల్ అవలేదు,  కానీ మేము తీయడం ఆపలేదు. ఎలా గడచిపోయాయో రోజులు అని ఆలోచిస్తే నా వరకు అద్భుతంగా గడచిపోయాయి అనిపిస్తుంది, ఇది అంత వీజీ కాదు భయ్యా అనాలనిపిస్తుంది. సరైన సంపాదన లేకుండా ఇన్నేళ్ళు ఇంటి అద్దెలు కట్టడం అంతే మామూలు విషయమా?  ఎలా సాధ్యమైంది ? జనం, ఆ జనంలో fans friends family members మరియు ఇప్పటివరకు కలవని కొంతమంది angels ఇచ్చిన డబ్బులతో ఇదంతా సాధ్యమైంది. ఎన్ని షూట్లు పాటలు నటులు నిర్మాతలు, ఎవరు వీళ్లంతా ? మా మీద పెడితే రూపాయి కూడా వెనక్కి రాదు అని తెలిసినా అడిగిన ప్రతిసారి ఎవరో ఒకరు ఇస్తూనే ఉన్నారు, అది బతకడానికైనా cinema తీయాడానికి అయినా, కామ్రేడ్స్ మీ అందరికీ నా వందనాలు. అప్పుడప్పుడు dramatic గా గర్వంగా అంటూ ఉంటా “మేము సంపాదించింది మనుషుల్ని” అని. 

రెండేళ్ల క్రితం డబలింజన్ & శీష్ మహల్ రిలీజ్ అయ్యాక track మారుద్దాం నిర్మాతల్ని ఒప్పించి కొంచెం better budgets తో comfortable గా తీద్దాం, lifestyle కూడా change చేయాలి, ఇంకా చాలా సినిమాలు తీయాలి అంటే healthy గా బతకాలి అని నేనూ రోహిత్ decide అయ్యాం. ఆ పరంగా ప్రయత్నాలు మొదలు పెట్టామ్, రెండు మూడు offers కూడా వచ్చాయి, హమ్మయ్యా సరైన నిర్ణయం త్వరలో రోజులు మారబోతున్నాయి అనిపించడం మొదలైంది. కథలు రాసాం, pitch decks చేసాం. రోజులు గడుస్తున్నాయి, నెలలు వెళ్లిపోతున్నాయి అలా రెండు సంవత్సరాలు గడచిపోయాయి. మా కథలతో మేము అనుకునే actors తో నిర్మాతల్ని ఒప్పించడం అంత easy కాదు అనే clarity అయితే ఉంది మా ఇద్దరికీ. నేను దేనికైతే భయపడతానో అదే జరిగింది, నిర్మాతల్ని ఒప్పించడం చిన్న విషయం కాదు. Almost ok అయిపోయాయి ముందుకు కదలటం లేదు. చిన్న సినిమాల విషయంలో ప్రస్తుత పరిస్థితి చాలా దారుణంగా ఉంది, hopeless situation. అయినా తీస్తూనే ఉన్నారు, ఎవరు వీళ్లంతా ? ఏమో , ప్రతి వారం కొత్త సినిమాల posters పడుతూనే ఉంటాయి. 

నాకు బెంగ పట్టుకుంది, shooting బెంగ, అవంతి ఏంటి ఏమీ తీయకపోవడం ఏంటి?  మనం మళ్ళీ జనం బాట పట్టాలి, మనకున్న fans చాలు, వాళ్ళే మన బలం. నిర్మాత దొరికినప్పుడు చూసుకుందాం, ఈలోపు ఏదో ఒకటి తీద్దాం అని పది రోజుల క్రితం decide అయ్యాను నేను. అనుకున్న బడ్జెట్ దొరకనప్పుడు ఆగిపోకూడదు, ఈసారి ultra low budget లో గంట సినిమా అనుకుంటున్నాను. Online ticket పెట్టి రిలీజ్ చేసి ఎంతో కొంత వెనక్కి రాబాట్టాలి అన్నదే plan. Shooting వరకు 1,60,000/- కావాలి, అది అయ్యాక post production budget plan చేసుకుని ఎక్కడా ఆగకుండా నెలలో finish అవ్వాలి అన్నదే target.

We’ve been making films, short films, and series for the past 12 years. Not a single hit, not even one viral song. But we never stopped creating. When I look back and think about how these days went by, all I can say is — for me, they were incredible. I feel like saying, “This isn’t easy, brother.” Paying house rent for so many years without a stable income — that’s no small thing.

How was it even possible?

It was possible because of people — from the general public, to fans, friends, family members, and even some angels we’ve never met who helped us financially.
So many shoots, songs, actors, producers… Who are all these people? Even when they knew they wouldn’t get a single rupee back, someone or the other always came forward to help, whether it was for our survival or to make a film.
Comrades, my humble thanks to all of you.

Once in a while, with a bit of drama and pride, I say — “What we’ve earned is people.”

Two years ago, after releasing Dublin Junction and Sheesh Mahal, we decided to change track. We thought, let’s convince producers, get better budgets, make films more comfortably, and also improve our lifestyles. If we want to make more films, we need to live healthily — Rohith and I made that decision.

We started working toward it. Got two or three offers too. For a while, we felt like we’d made the right choice — that things were finally going to change. We wrote stories, made pitch decks. Days passed, then months… now two years have gone by.

We realized it’s not that easy to convince producers with our kind of stories and our choice of actors.
What I feared the most happened — convincing producers turned out to be a big hurdle.
Deals that were almost finalized aren’t moving forward.

Right now, the situation for small films is pretty grim — a truly hopeless situation.
And still, people continue to make them.
Who are these people?
I don’t know.
But every week, new movie posters keep showing up.

I started feeling restless — that itch to shoot again.
Why nothing from Avanti lately? Why aren’t we making anything?
We need to go back to our people. Our fans are enough. They are our strength.

We’ll worry about finding a producer later. For now, let’s just make something — that’s what I decided 10 days ago.
When the planned budget doesn’t come through, we shouldn’t stop.

This time, I’m thinking of making a one-hour film on an ultra-low budget.
Plan is to release it online with paid tickets and at least recover a part of the cost.

We need ₹1,60,000 to get to the shooting stage. After that, we’ll plan the post-production budget. The goal is to complete it within a month without any delays.
